Welcome to my blog

A long time ago, I had a blog but when I changed website, I stopped. Now I have a new site and I decided that I would like to start again. My focus will be about nature and art. My own work focussed on nature. This is a great way for me to discuss my interests and share with you.

First let me till you a bit about myself. I am a multimedia artist from St. Albert, Alberta, with deep roots in nature and the environment. Growing up on a farm in northern Alberta, I developed a strong connection to the natural world. This early exposure to nature has shaped both my personal life and my art. I spent over 35 years teaching art, and during the COVID-19 pandemic, I expanded my practice to include sculpture. Life changes, such as the birth of my children and moving to different places, along with the challenges of the pandemic, have all influenced how I approach my work, providing me with new perspectives and creative avenues.

Nature has always been at the heart of my artistic practice. I focus on the often-overlooked details in the environment—whether it's the way plants grow, the changes in weather, or the subtle shifts in the landscape. My current series, Treasures in Nature, explores these small, meaningful elements through sculptures and mixed-media prints. I use materials such as acrylics, garden elements, and found objects from my walks, often incorporating the Japanese art of kintsugi to celebrate imperfections and resilience. Through my work, I aim to draw attention to the beauty of the natural world and inspire a deeper appreciation for the environment, encouraging viewers to notice and value the world around them.
